Obviously it has been a while since I felt moved to write anything. But on this rather uneventful night (other than Canada having won the gold for hockey, which is sufficient cause for mass hysteria in this neck of the woods) I found what appears to be just the right article (here) irritating enough to coax me into a rant. Let me speak now of the illuminating beacon of wisdom that is Louis Farrakhan.
Now dont let me make the mistake of appearing to take this race-baiting retard seriously. Hell, even few liberals make that mistake. The reason I even make reference to his latest statements is that he, at least in part, seems to make a case that I suspect is quite common to many on the left (who, at least in part, tend to share in his perpetual retardation).
While on one of his marathon (four hour) motor mouth speeches, "Minister" Farrakhan stayed true to form and could not help but again antagonize the manufactured racial rift by accusing the "white right" of conspiring to ensure that President Obama would be no more than a one term president, citing conservative opposition to his health care objectives as proof.
Now, again, I have no particular problem with this sort of statement if it were understood to be particular to the idiotic fringes of Farrakhan and his ilk. Then at least we as whole would ignore them as they deserve to be. But unfortunately the left is filled with propoganda loving radicals that have little regard for intellectual honesty, much less truth, and it seems to me that we will hear echoes of Farrakhans charges in the months (if not years) to come. Having said that, there are several things with this statement that trouble me, but a few stand out in particular.
First I would address this concept of the "white right". Initially I would question why it has not occured to folks like Farrakhan that the right (i.e. conservatives) are not exclusivly composed of whites? But then I realize that they do in fact know that, and even more, they know that more and more blacks are seeing through the racial warfare game of the left and are coming over to the right in increasing numbers. But of course they dismiss these, or demonize them. Hell, if you follow the path of Thomas Sowell, Alan Keyes, or Clarence Thomas, in a long list of names, then you have the dubious distinction of being branded by liberal black leaders as an "Uncle Tom", a sellout to your race. No diversity of ideas and positions on that side of the isle, let me tell you.
Now as I recall, it was President Clinton who was first proclaimed as the "first Black President". Forget the fact that he was completely deprived of the skin tone to merit that title by adoring liberals. It was really because he was "sensitive" to the black plight (read: adept at playing the race game) and because he was "cool" (plays the sax and "gets with the honeys" on the side). But thats all old news, because we have a real black President now, right? We will just forget the part about him actually being as half white as he is half black. Oh, and we neednt mention that he was raised by the white half (his mother), and that the black half appears to have been the stereotypical dead-beat Dad. Hell, Obama himself seems to forget these things while he continues on an identity crisis driven quest for pandering.
But that just mostly speaks to the "white" part of the "white right" label. I find it kind of humorous that lefty type folks like Farrakhan are troubled that the "right" would oppose Obamas far-from-centrist policies. And lets call a spade a spade here, no pun intended, these are socialist policies. Apparently we have become ignorant towards the philosophies and methods of socialism, so it would benefit many of us to objectively examine the history and failures of socialism before we sign off on it in our zeal for "change". The left denies it all day long, but this is socialism at its core they are proposing, folks. At the very least, they are doing thier best to put a large portion of socialisms foot into the door (it's all about incrementalism and the frog in the pot for these people).
In any case, what I find curious is that the left pretends confusion that the right would oppose these things. Is this really any great surprise? Isn't that thier job, thier mission? And I dont mean that they should be rejecting anything and everything from the opposition just because it is from the opposition, but rather that it is thier job to scrutinize and reject things which are contrary to conservative principles and values, is it not? And if this is the case, that the conservative leaders, like much of America overall, believe that this President is taking the country in a radical direction contrary to the values upon which the country was founded, and which are not in the best interest of the people, then it stands to reason that they will of course want to do what they are able to ensure that this President has only one term. This is not rocket science, its standard politics of the good variety. But really, radicals like Farrakhan dont care that there is nothing wrong or even unusual about this. Rather, it serves as a grand opportunity to trot out the old worn race card yet again.
One of the things I find irritating is that so many stupid white people voted for this clown and his hopey-changey nonsense message. Lets forget that his (lack of) credentials almost guaranteed partisan incompetence, which we now see regularly. And we will be generous enough to ignore that he was a Chicago politician, which even the less educated rubes like us know includes at least some measure of corruption. And hell, we will even forget that the entirety of his campaign message was completely devoid of any real meaning, all style and absolutely no substance (not unlike his Presidency). These do more to show our own stupidity as a voting electorate overall more than anything else, so lets put these aside for now. The question I have is why so many white people voted for this guy? It is, of course, a rhetorical question. Quite simply, we did it because entirely too many of us suffer from terminal cases of "white guilt".
We have been getting slammed by the left, and not just blacks mind you, but by "educated intellectuals" and the like for so long about how whitey has wronged the black people, about how we have "kept him down", about how America is inescapably a racist country. We must atone for our sins by various means of reparations. Despite the fact that the racist crimes of the past have neither been perpetrated nor suffered by the overwhelming majority of us, white or black, this has been an embarassingly successful propoganda campaign. Now we have millions of white folks who, despite having not a racist bone in thier body and despite seeing a different reality outside thier front window, actually feel that they should support philosophies and actions born out of a multicultural cest pool, not because they make sense or correspond to reality, but because it will make them feel better and enable them to defend themselves in that they have now supported the cause.
So yeah, its pretty obvious that many whites, without whom Obama could not have won, voted out of guilt that they did not deserve to bear in the first place. And now here we are, with our first authentic black President. How do you feel now, white Americans? Did you really think that the race game would stop when we elected a black President? Did you think they would at least no longer call us racists? Wrong. We are still racists (unless we are liberals). Get used to it, suckers. The game only stops when we stand up and say enough is enough. Your guilt will never be absolved by the race pimps, dont you know that? As long as there is currency in the game, the game keeps going on.
The true racists these days are Farrakhan and his sort. They occupy the left almost exclusively. You will find respect for a colour-blind society alive and well on the right. And as I recall, this was the dream of Martin Luther King Jr., was it not? For the liberals the game has switched sides a little, but it is still the same essence of highlighting rather than ignoring colour, and giving priviledge to one group over the other based on that colour. That and the game of managing useful idiots (read it).
I am anxious for the day when we actually mature and become intellectually honest about this issue. I want to see the days past when the left continues to throw up one minority race-thug puppet after another while they continue screwing up this country and simultaneously slamming us with endless guilt trips of racism if we do not tow the socialist utopian line of those who supposedly know better than us.
Isnt it remarkable that only the empowerment of black leftists are seen as progress, but the ascension of black conservatives are not? Me, I would be all behind a Thomas Sowell campaign! Heck, I still want to draft J.C. Watts back into the game. And neither are because of thier skin colour, but because of the content of thier character, demonstratable records of real acheivement and contribution, and thier legacies of competent and ethical leadership. You know, the things that the current President lacks. The things that are completely alien to persons like "Minister" Farrakhan.
And while we are refreshing ourselves on the history of socialism, lets also break out the old history books (not the revisionist crap we feed our kids in schools these days) and review which political party was on which side in the battles over racism in America. It might be enlightening for some to find out that the party of diversity and multiculturalism was historically the party that opposed abolishing slavery and many of the equal rights efforts on the behalf of blacks. But I guess that will be less prefered for the entitlement crowd that would rather enjoy a pandering political class. The rest of us will continue on in Bizzaro-world.
