Newsflash!!! Norris Out, Stark In!!!
With all due respect to the outgoing master of the universe, Chuck Norris (noted and respected Republican), it appears he has been displaced in his position of galactic supremacy by none other than Tony Stark, the Invincible Iron Man (a.k.a. Robert Downey Jr., also a conservative).
Thinking of my time in EQ "back in the day", I cannot count the number of hours I had listened to (and partaken in) the Chuck Norris jokes that filled the chat bar. It was quite good fun, and somehow throughout the jokes, it bred a certain respect for Mr. Norris. But time moves on, and a new king has been crowned. Who better than Tony Stark?
Iron Man has become a new conservative hero. A capitalist guy who finds the whole liberal agenda "boring", who brings the fight to the terrorist enemy, stands up to and mocks Specter-like Senators, and loves the ladies in a non-milquetoast-liberal-sappy way, how could we not love him? And when he mocks Obama with an Iron man version of the semi-classic red and blue "change" poster now associated with the current Comrade in Chief, you know that this is your kinda guy...a mans man. Let's just hope that liberal creator Stan Lee and movie director Jon Favreau don't screw it up by changing the dialogue of a new American icon. Long live Tony Stark!!!
